Dix Sept: Good Samaritan?

While walking about Vietnam, we noticed these bottles of water, sometimes bottles with blue/green liquids placed on the side of the road. We could not figure out what they are. Our theory is that they are placed there for use by any of the moped riders who developed engine overheat problems... there are thousands/probably millions of these mopeds all over vietnam. The China made mopeds cost 400USD new!

SEIZE: Bricks

The bricks they have in Vietnam have circular holes in them, probably to reduce material/weight.

QUATORZE: Worry only about the 60 deg left and right of your front

In most places that I've been to, traffic has generally been orderly, and familiar, just need to switch from driving on the left or driving on the right. In Vietnam, the taxi driver tells me that they worry only the 120 degrees in front of them, which can lead to some pretty harrowing rides in HCMC. This and the incessant horning makes life as a passenger quite an experience. Oh and the motobikers don't obey road signs or traffic lights in most places, riding against the flow, cutting across round-abouts.

Check out this picture taken at the round-about outside cho ben thanh market.Somehow no accidents happen despite the chaos

Most intimidating for me was figuring out how to cross the roads since the pedestrain crossing rules don't apply. (Here's a tip for those going to HCMC,vietnam: look for a local and walk beside him/her, without looking at the coming traffic; they will somehow miraculously avoid hitting you)

so remember: at a pedestrian crossing in HCMC, look forward and cross...

TREIZE: Suds

Some jokers decided to put some detergent into the fountain at Place Wilson in Toulouse central. Suds all over the place.

DOUZE: Clueless

Was at Changi Airport yesterday and I spotted this guy holding the sign "Mr Tan", obviously clueless to the fact that TAN is the most common surname in Singapore. There are about quarter of a million Tans in Singapore...

Clueless in Changi
